Asset Management Philosophy

The asset management philosophy of Desjardins Asset Management and its subsidiary Desjardins Global Asset Management is based on three fundamental principles.

  • The asset allocation decision, i.e., selection and appropriateness of the target. Particular attention is paid not only to choosing the allocation of the various asset classes but also to choosing an appropriate target for each asset class.
  • Attitude towards active management, i.e., the conviction that our partners and clients are best served when the in-house teams of managers continue developing their unique expertise, notably in management of quality fixed income instruments and in quantitative management, while being able to use a multi-management approach that involves identifying and drawing on the best managers in three continents for other asset classes.
  • Investing in research and development, i.e., making significant investments in order to develop and maintain a technological edge in creating management tools and new financial products.

Desjardins Asset Management strives for close relations with its partners and clients just as it requires thoroughness and creativity among its employees.

Because creativity is what opens the door to new ways of doing things, to innovation in investment product design and to identifying market opportunities, Desjardins Asset Management places great importance on recruiting talented resources and creating a work environment that fosters creativity.
